When a new member is to be added to the household in the form of a baby, the parents are most likely to be more apprehensive than excited. This apprehension is all the more compounded for first time parents who have a lot of unanswered questions. As new parents, you might be making a list of things you would be needing to welcome the baby into a safe and comfortable world. Aside from the obvious necessities such as a bottle or diapers, there are less known things that can ease your way into parenthood and important in keeping the baby comfortable and in good health. One of them is the baby pillow which is more or less ignored as a separate purchase.
More often than not, baby pillows are sold along with the crib for the baby as a set, with bedding etc, which might not be suitable for children below two years of age as proper care is not taken in manufacturing such packaged items. In general, it’s best to wait until your child moves from a crib to the bed before introducing a pillow.
It is also an old maids remedy and one suggested by experts that if the baby is suffering from a cold or a stuffed nose, using a pillow to elevate the head of the baby helps drain the sinuses. There are other ways to do it and you can do this without putting a pillow under her head.
There are a few characteristics all baby pillows should have. Use a small pillow which is light in weight for the baby. This is so that the child does not suffer from heat and there is no chance of suffocation either. Yet another thing to look for is that the pillow should be devoid of frills and fancies. This is to ensure that the child does not swallow and suffocate on anything on the pillow by mistake. Cotton and silk pillows are two perfect examples of baby friendly fabrics. Feather pillows are known to cause an allergic reaction among some babies and it is best to avoid them. The best possible options are those baby pillows that have a removable cover, or are machine washable as a whole as this will help keep the pillows clean.
Testing the firmness of the baby pillow to avoid suffocation or sinking or breathlessness due to nose pressed against the hard to too soft surface of the pillow, is an ideal thing to do before deciding upon the pillow. It is safe to teach a baby to sleep on a baby pillow after it becomes two years old. Before the age of two babies can get suffocated on a pillow. It might prove dangerous to do otherwise. When the baby starts using a pillow the baby pillow should be small and non allergic body pillow. There are numerous options you can choose from.
The possibilities for your baby pillow are endless.

Horaayy..there are 2 comment(s) for me so far ;)
I will be sure to remember this place. Great info at this blog.
A too high pillow will cause your child to wake with a sore neck, but a small pillow will stop this from happening.
Fourth, what is the best filling for a baby pillow? Even though down and feather pillows are delightfully soft and comfortable, don’t give them to your child. They are too soft for small children, and their filling can give children allergies to down or feathers. The stuffing should be firm, and hypoallergenic fillings are best.
If you have followed these simple guidelines, you are sure to choose the right baby pillow for your child.
